Mission
The Oasis Alliance (OA) brightens the lives of trauma survivors by co-designing personalized spaces that encourage and support recovery, growth, and mental well-being. Most people believe that interior design is a luxury. We believe that interior design is an underutilized tool to empower, encourage and resurrect people at their lowest point. When we live in personalized spaces that affirm our humanity, we feel important—a major first step in moving past trauma and loss.
Vision
The Oasis Alliance envisions a world where every trauma survivor has a dignified place of refuge to refuel and recharge.
Surviving
Homelessness
–
“It is difficult to overestimate the benefits of having a stable, safe home as fundamental to mental health and well-being.”
domestic Violence
–
“Domestic violence causes worsened psychological and physical health, decreased quality of life, decreased productivity, and in some cases, mortality.”
Martin R. Huecker; Kevin C. King; Gary A. Jordan; William Smock.
Sexual abuse
–
“Research suggests an association between sexual violence and a range of mental-health problems – including post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, psychosis and substance abuse problems.”
transitional housing
–
“More than 30 million people are released from custody annually. These individuals are disproportionately poor, disenfranchised, and chronically ill.”
“Living space can directly impact mood and anxiety. With increased clutter or disorganization in a person’s personal living space, it can feel like there is no safe place to recover from life.”

Story
In July 2018, The Oasis Alliance formed as a non-profit in the state of Virginia and received 501(c)3 tax-exemption status by the IRS. Three Washington, D.C. area interior design professionals began applying their passion and skills to transform living spaces into a refuge for healing in the Northern Virginia, District of Columbia and Maryland communities. They collected quality and gently used furniture, décor, and household items from the generosity of community business leaders, churches, and individuals.
The first installation was for a single parent and child who were survivors of domestic violence and transitioning from a shelter to a home of their own. OA designers curated a personalized living space, which gave them peace of mind and encouragement.
The family attributed much of their success in healing to the services and care that was provided to them by The Oasis Alliance just a few years ago.
We’ve completed 70+ room designs; from studio basement apartments, townhomes, single family homes, multiple room shelters, and commercial properties all across the District - Maryland - Virginia area. We graciously have received local recognition, acknowledgments, and awards for our work.
