A Letter from Our Founder…
As I proudly introduce the Oasis Alliance x Western Sensibility line, I'm sharing more than just a collection of intricately designed pillows and fabrics. This line represents a pivotal chapter in the journey towards sustainability for our organization.
For The Oasis Alliance, interior design has always been more than a luxury. It's a powerful tool for healing and transforming lives, especially for those overcoming trauma. The Oasis Alliance décor collection is the embodiment of this belief. Each design, inspired by the tinner working of the human heart, aims to bring the therapeutic essence of personalized spaces into every home.
But the story behind bringing this collection to life is not just about design or the heart; it's about resilience and innovation in non-profit funding. As a woman of color leading a niche non-profit, I've faced the challenges of securing consistent funding. As an all-volunteer organization with a very distinct mission and high impact/ low frequency ROI, our results framework is one that isn’t flashy enough for most corporations and foundations looking for big numbers and flashy capabilities. We invest deeply in a small number of families, and that’s OK. Nevertheless, the deeply powerful work we do we must continue. We always have more requests than we can handle.
I honestly have no idea how we’ve kept our doors open over these five years. Let me take that back; I firmly believe that when grounded in purpose, the creator provides---both the resources and the strategy to keep going. One such strategy involves the exploration of diverse revenue streams - a critical approach for any organization aiming for longevity and independence.
Our collaboration with Western Sensibility, a like-minded woman-owned business, goes beyond a mere partnership. It's a shared dream where creativity meets purpose, where financial stability is intertwined with making a social impact. Western Sensibility has been an unwavering partner for the past year, gently guiding and supporting along the way to help us in this first endeavor to bring our art to market through surface design. By commercializing our unique decor line, Western Sensibility is helping us take a bold step towards mitigating the risk that comes with the sometimes-unpredictable world of philanthropy.
This approach is vital for organizations led by people of color. Diverse funding streams don't just ensure financial stability; they empower us to maintain control over our mission and values. It's about creating a self-sustaining model that allows us to continue our essential work without compromise.
All while doing what we love, making and curating beauty. We are blessed to be a blessing.
As you explore our collection, understand that each purchase is more than just a transaction. It's an investment in a vision where design is a tool for healing, empowerment, and sustainability. You're also endorsing a model where diversity in funding is essential for the growth and autonomy of POC-led initiatives. I invite you to join us in this transformative journey.
Together, we can create spaces that heal, uplift, and empower! Check out our luxury pillow and fabric line here and donate below.
Collection Description
The Oasis Alliances' “Inner Workings” collection pays homage to the intricacies of the heart and the healing journey. It references the complicated and beautiful journey back to our core, childlike essence; due to and in spite of life’s greatest challenges.
Key features woven throughout the line include the cyclical nature and abstract nature of healing, the centering of (and tending to) our needs to pour out into others, organic flow in the healing process, and the importance of repetition and ritual as key features of mental health maintenance.
The colorways of each pattern invoke a sense of purpose, boldness, creativity, majesty, intention and mystery–all things embedded deeply in the corridors of the heart. Original artworks were created by The Oasis Alliance and then were passed off to Western Sensibility’s Surface Designer Chelsea von Hassel, who turned the originals into repeating patterns to be printed onto upholstery-grade textiles.
The OA team hopes that this collection brings as much joy to you in your home as it brought to them to create.
